Wing Design, Structure, and Construction

The last couple of weeks, students learned about the design, structure, and construction of airplane wings. They engaged in hands on learning by constructing a mock airplane wing which is roughly half scale of a Vans RV-3 airplane.

Below are photos of building the ribs, spare, and testing the construction in preparation for student use.

  1. It’s really cool that these students are learning how airplane wings are designed. I can see how there’s huge demand for people who know aviation construction. Being able to supply solidly built airplanes seems necessary for air travel and for the military, so educating young people how planes are built is important.
