Executive Flight Institute – Field Trip
SJVA’s Aviation Club took a field trip to French Valley Airport and toured Executive Flight Institute’s operations. Students experienced and learned about pre-flighting an aircraft, aviation maintenance, ground instruction, flew in an FAA approved flight simulator, talked with Mr. Oshinuga, aerobatic and air racing pilot, and received a gift certificate for 1/2 hour of flight instruction. The field trip was a great success, thanks EFI and Anthony Oshinuga ! Please visit their websites @ flyefi.com and anthonyoshinuga.com

7th Grader Takes Flight
After taking our field trip to the airport one of our 7th grade students took a discovery flight and has started taking flying lessons at the local airport. Pretty cool!!!

Airplane Completed!
Students completed the empennage section of the airplane and finished the half scale airplane project. This project helped to further the cause to inspire and teach students about the wonderful world of aviation!
Fuselage Construction
Over the last few weeks, students constructed roughly a 1/2 scale wing. The purpose was to provide hands on learning about the basic structure of a wing. Continuing with that objective, we constructed roughly a 1/2 scale fuselage to go with the wing. The plan is to finish off the airplane with the empennage or tail section of the airplane.
Wing Design, Structure, and Construction
The last couple of weeks, students learned about the design, structure, and construction of airplane wings. They engaged in hands on learning by constructing a mock airplane wing which is roughly half scale of a Vans RV-3 airplane.
Below are photos of building the ribs, spare, and testing the construction in preparation for student use.
Practicing Approach and Landing
Students in aviation club worked with Mr. Evans (CFI) on their approach and landing technique.
X-Planes Flight Simulator
Students at Aviation Club have an opportunity to work through various stations learning about aeronautics through basic ground instruction and various flight simulators. Below is a student is receiving instruction from Mr. Evans on basics flight maneuvers using our X-Planes Flight Simulator.
