This week our Precision Flight Controls CRX-MAX Advanced Aviation Training Device was installed and became operational. This FAA approved training device allows students to log flight simulator time and credit 2.5 hours towards earning their private pilot certificate.
The last couple weeks students have been learning about the six main flight instruments commonly referred to as the “Six Pack” – Airspeed Indicator, Attitude Indicator, Altimeter, Turn Coordinator, Heading Indicator, and Vertical Speed Indicator. Mr. Evans brought in some of these instruments for the students to examine.
After taking our field trip to the airport one of our 7th grade students took a discovery flight and has started taking flying lessons at the local airport. Pretty cool!!!

Over the last few weeks, students constructed roughly a 1/2 scale wing. The purpose was to provide hands on learning about the basic structure of a wing. Continuing with that objective, we constructed roughly a 1/2 scale fuselage to go with the wing. The plan is to finish off the airplane with the empennage or tail section of the airplane.
